UP Nature and Bird Festival, from 1-3 February 2023
About the festival
The UP Bird and Nature Festival 2023 will be held from February 1 to 3 at Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary. Located in the Mahoba district in the Bundelkhand region, Vijay Sagar Bird Sanctuary is home to a number of residents as well as migratory birds. At present, the region will see a large number of winter migratory birds.
The main attraction is the 11th century Vijay Sagar Lake, built by Vijay Pal Chandela, a ruler of the Chandela dynasty.
The annual bird festival is organised to primarily draw nature lovers’ attention to the amazing avifauna of Uttar Pradesh. But birds aren’t the only treat you get when you explore the forests of Uttar Pradesh. Other wildlife like tigers, rhinoceros, elephants, sloth bears, barasingha, leopard, jackal, crocodiles, and plenty of reptiles and amphibians, are also given the much-needed limelight.
The festival is jointly organised by the Forest and Eco-Tourism Department of Uttar Pradesh.
Every year, the festival is attended by bird experts from not only India but from all over the world. For nature conservators, wildlife and photography enthusiasts, this festival is a great time to experience what they love the most – nature and birds.
This year’s festival will revolve around the theme ‘Ecotourism for nature conservation’, and a number of experts will lead the discussion, panel sessions, photo exhibits, book launches, and the best of all – field excursions. There’s a different kind of fun and excitement to going birding with the experts.
