"Sleeping pods" will be installed at Prayagraj Railway Station in January 2024.

The management of Prayagraj is working tirelessly to make sure that the guests who are scheduled to arrive for the Magh Mela can have the greatest facilities available. The mela is scheduled to begin on January 14 of next year, according to sources.

In the meantime, the North Central Railways (NCR) are preparing for a significant influx of pilgrims for the Magh Mela celebrations, which will start in January, by operationalizing 60 sleeping pods at the Prayagraj railway junction shortly. According to experts in the field, these pods will provide pilgrims with a comfortable experience in addition to being small and reasonably priced.

Each pod, which is eight feet long and six feet wide, may be reserved for a 12-hour period using a flexi-fare system for a price between INR 500 and INR 1,500. Officials said that the hotel will have its own café and be situated next to the old, demolished footover bridge on the Civil Lines side of Prayagraj Junction. The former booking office used to be there.

If sources are to be believed, these pods should be operational prior to the opening of the 54-day fair on January 15, Makar Sankranti, which coincides with the Magh Mela bathing festival. The Prayagraj division of NCR recently held a tender for the installation of this'sleeping pod' hotel project, which was eventually granted to a Pune-based company.

The Prayagraj Division spokesperson for the National Capital Region, Amit Singh, expressed hope over the opening of this facility at Prayagraj Junction by Makar Sankranti.

The sources go on to say that the sleeping pods will have all the conveniences of modern living, including Wi-Fi, phone charging stations, locker rooms, and restrooms, all in the shape of capsule-sized chambers. In all, 60 sleeping pods will be available, consisting of 10 double occupant pods, 5 tiny family pods, 45 single occupant pods, and 10 pods dedicated solely for female passengers.
